Consultant Heart Surgeon & Telemedicine Department co-coordinator, Dr Pavan Kumar informed that this portable and handy device is a diagnostic tool to know heart condition in heart patients, specially after heart attacks, angioplasty or after cardiac surgeries, who can get their ECG recorded at home and transmitted to their physician's mobile phone immediately for his quick advise.
Heart patients will have to just dial a number for registering at telemedicine centre to avail tele-ECG and ECG on mobile service and a paramedic will be sent with this portable device. "A patient require a little training so that he can himself record and send his ECG. The device works on sound-based technology for signal transfer. This device was designed by Vinayak Deshpande - Business head of Maestros, who along with his team of engineers developed this portable device totally indigenously last year. After developing the device, the team developed a software so that ECG can be transferred and seen on mobile phones. After six months of field trials of the device and mobile facility, it was perfected for use.
